UCF looking for even more good times in 2010
By Bud L. Ellis
Hopes are high in Orlando that the Central Florida Golden Knights can come up golden in their quest for a stellar 2010 season.
The Golden Knights finished 8-5 a season ago, coming in second in Conference USA with a 6-2 mark. And, with eight starters back on offense and seven returning on defense, head coach George O’Leary has to feel very confident UCF can surpass last season’s success.
UCF kicks off the season at home Sept. 4 against South Dakota. The home opener is a week later, against N.C. State of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Two long road trips await: at Buffalo and at Kansas State.
The C-USA opener is Wednesday, Oct. 6 against UAB at home. A trip to Marshall comes up the next Wednesday, Oct. 13. Two home games in a row close October: vs. Rice on Oct. 23 and vs. East Carolina on Oct. 30.
A quick turnaround awaits with a trip to Houston for a Friday game on Nov. 5. The home finale is Nov. 13 against Southern Miss, followed by road games at Tulane and at Memphis.
